Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI)
It’s estimated that in this year alone, almost 9 million American teens will contract an STI. If you’ve ever had sex, there’s a chance you could have an STI even if you don’t experience symptoms since it is possible to be infected by one without knowing it. If you have had sex, we strongly recommend you get tested since even the STIs that show no symptoms will affect you in some way.
ABSTINENCE DOES NOT MEAN NEVER – it simply means delaying something for a designated amount of time. Delaying sexual activity until you are married and remaining faithful in marriage is the only 100% guarantee you have to avoid pregnancy and to avoid contracting an STI. If you feel that you are not ready to have sex, or if you do not want to put yourself at risk for pregnancy or an STI, then abstinence is your best choice.
